My Pregnancy Journal: 36 Weeks

This baby bump picture is from last week, just 1 day shy of 36 weeks. I wanted to show you how my Halloween maternity skeleton shirt turned out. I got lots of compliments on it, but just a hint if you want to DIY – don’t buy a V-neck shirt! I had to alter the skeleton cut out a bit to get it to work.

So lately, this is mostly how I feel:

The swelling in my legs and feet is out of control. It got to the point this week that my physical therapist wanted me to see my OB, so even though I didn’t have an appointment this week, he saw me anyway. The good news is my blood pressure is fine and no protein in my urine (so no pre-eclampsia), the bad news is I apparently will have cankles and painfully swollen feet the rest of my pregnancy. It really puts a damper on all my grand plans to clean the house and do final projects in these last few weeks. I’m going to tough it out and keep working up to 39 weeks, unless it gets to the point that I cannot put on work-appropriate shoes.

This week, baby is the size of a: Too lazy to look it up this week, he should be about 6 1/2 pounds

Next appointment: OB and PT next week

Total weight gain/loss: +33? Hard to tell what my real weight is due to the fluid retention

Exercise: Mainly just my yoga DVD and they keep adding more stretches and exercise ball moves at PT

Maternity clothes: Whatever fits.

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good, except for when I have acid reflux (mainly when I work back-to-back night shifts and try to lay down right after eating breakfast)

Food cravings/aversions: Not having any cravings. Just trying to eat whatever doesn’t give me heartburn.

Movement: He is moving less now, I guess he is too crowded.

What I miss: My normal feet!!

What I’m loving: I’m writing this at the end of my 36 weeks, so as of today I am actually full-term.

What I’m looking forward to: Thanksgiving is not too far away, and my due date right after it.

Best moment this week: Seeing my friend’s new baby. Made me that much more excited to meet our little guy!

Milestones: Reached full-term.

Goals: Instead of goals, I’m going to start keeping a to-do list:
- maternity photos (still waiting for weather to cool off…maybe someday)
- finish packing my hospital bag
- install car seats (one done, one to go)
- start thinking about freezer meals (bought some pre-made stuff, need to cook some healthier meals)

Yay for full term! Sorry to hear your swelling hasn’t gotten any better. I started swelling a lot worse in the past week. I even had gained 4lbs in two weeks at my last check up, but I’m sure its due to water retention. As long as its not pre-e I’ll do my best to suck it up. And I’m making a point to rest more in the middle of the day.
