My Pregnancy Journal: 35 Weeks Baby Bump

We finally got around to doing maternity photos, and this is one of my favorite pictures. Due to a cold front last weekend, it actually felt like fall briefly, so we went to the botanical gardens for our photo shoot. In order to save money, my husband took most of the pictures himself using our Canon Rebel and did all the editing. I think they turned out pretty good for free! It was a really busy weekend, but we knocked out some other stuff like a big shopping trip at Sam’s Club to stock up our freezer and my husband installed the car seat.

I’m not sure why but my feet and legs are terribly swollen and painful all the time now, not just after work. Even when I get out of bed first thing in the morning, they are still puffy and by the end of the day I feel like my skin is so taut and is going to burst. I think I’ve officially transitioned into pregnant grump mode. I’ve started going to physical therapy twice a week and they are helping with my back and sciatica, but there’s not much they can do about the swelling. So on my days off, I’m either hobbling around, or have my legs propped up and thinking about all the stuff I need to be doing. I still have a month of work left, but I guess it is good practice for dealing with pain during labor.

On the bright side: the end is getting closer, baby appears to be healthy, and at least I still don’t have any stretch marks!

This week, baby is the size of a: Honeydew melon, a little over 5 lbs and 18″ long

Next appointment: PT next week. I won’t see my OB again until 37 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +28 pounds

Exercise: Mainly just my yoga DVD and some of the stretches they’ve shown me at PT

Maternity clothes: Went to Motherhood Maternity to buy some postpartum stuff – nursing bras and camis, and a maternity support belt at the recommendation of my doctor.

Sleep: I wake up, eat breakfast, and then feel like I could go back to bed!

Food cravings/aversions: I’m not really crazy about food right now. I bought Halloween candy several weeks in advance, and only sneaked like 5 pieces the whole time. I do love a glass of cold chocolate milk though.

Symptoms: I think I’ve complained about my symptoms enough already :)

Movement: It seems like he gets hiccups a lot, poor thing!

What I miss: My normal level of activity

What I’m loving: Crossing more stuff off our to-do list

What I’m looking forward to: My last day at work…11 more shifts to go

Best moment this week: The maternity photos. I work a lot of weekends now, so it’s rare for my husband and I to go out and do something nice together.

Milestones: Nothing this week

Goals: Instead of goals, I’m going to start keeping a to-do list:
- maternity photos (still waiting for weather to cool off…maybe someday)
- finish packing my hospital bag
- install car seats (one done, one to go)
- start thinking about freezer meals (bought some pre-made stuff, need to cook some healthier meals)

What a cute photo! I love the frame idea. We had our maternity photo shoot today and I can’t wait to see the photos.
I’m noticing a lot of swelling now myself. What a pain!! I just try to drink more water and put my feet up as well.
We are in the home stretch now!
