My Pregnancy Journal: 34 Weeks Pregnant Baby Bump

The good: had another uneventful OB check up today, and everything looks great with me and baby! We will get one last ultrasound in about a month to confirm position, check amniotic fluid level, and estimate size. Now that I’m wearing my lovely knee-high compression socks to work and bulking up on protein, my swelling seems to be back to a manageable amount. My husband also bought me this Conair Waterfall Foot Spa with Lights, Bubbles, and Heat to help after working my long shifts.

The not so good: I am just suffering from all the usual aches and discomforts that come with being this far along in pregnancy. Part of me knows that many women would kill to be in my shoes and we had to work so hard to achieve this pregnancy so I am grateful, but…it’s still uncomfortable at times! I started having what I think is sciatic nerve pain a few days ago, so I was hobbling around like an old lady. I went to acupuncture and it hasn’t happened since, so maybe that was the fix I needed. I’m also going to try physical therapy through my employer, since it should be cheaper than the chiropractor.

This week, baby is the size of a: Cantaloupe, about 4 3/4 lb and 18″ long

Next appointment: Chiropractor & massage next week

Total weight gain/loss: +26 pounds

Exercise: I’ve been better about doing my 45 minute yoga DVD this week, and I’ve walked the dogs several times

Maternity clothes: Holding steady with what I have for now :)

Sleep: I am so tired lately. I’m really glad I did the nursery and other preparations so early in the pregnancy!

Food cravings/aversions: Not really having any cravings this week. Just trying to find stuff that doesn’t give me killer heartburn, and is high in protein.

Symptoms: All the normal late third trimester symptoms. At least I don’t have any stretch marks yet!

Movement: He is still mostly a night owl. My husband got to feel him having hiccups the other night, that was cute :)

What I miss: Normal looking feet and shoes that fit

What I’m loving: Having a good OB check up today

What I’m looking forward to:

Best moment this week: My acupuncture session was pretty relaxing.

Milestones: Not sure if there are really any milestones left to have until I go into labor!

Goals: Instead of goals, I’m going to start keeping a to-do list:
- maternity photos (still waiting for weather to cool off…maybe someday)
- finish packing my hospital bag
- install car seats
- start thinking about freezer meals

Everything sounds terrific with your pregnancy. I also had sciatic nerve pain with my pregnancies and unfortunately I still do have it. P/T should help and it is a shame that acupuncture is so expensive because I do think that is terrific natural help.

I’m glad you’ve had some relief with your swelling! Some days are worse than others for me but if I’m really good about my water in take then it seems ok. Although the wedding rings are off and staying off haha. Hope you enjoy your massage next week, I really need to schedule one.
