Review: Susan Brown Baby Natural Skin Care

If there’s one area where I think it’s important to invest in all natural or organic as much as possible, it’s for baby skin care products. Susan Brown’s Baby is a line of skin care products infused with natural ingredients like Jojoba Oil, Shea, Cocoa and Moringa Butters, nourishing Oat and soothing Chamomile and Calendula. They are dermatologist tested and are paraben and phthalate free.

Susan Brown’s Baby has products for both babies and new moms, which can be purchased individually or in attractive gift baskets. I received a variety pack of their top-selling products to evaluate, which included the following:

Foaming Shampoo & Body Wash – hypoallergenic and tear free formula
Diaper Therapy Cream – contains 12.5% zinc oxide and their unique first skin emollient complex
Nourishing Lotion – fragrance and oil free
Lotion to Powder – this talc-free formula provides a moisture barrier
Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer
Botanical Gelee – a safe alternative to Petroleum Jelly aka Vaseline
Just for Mom Warming Masque for Stretch Marks – exfoliates and hydrates the skin

As a NICU nurse, I see parents tend to stick to the traditional brands of skin care products available at stores like WalMart for their babies. I think it’s important to know that the FDA really doesn’t monitor products like these strictly, so it’s important to educate yourself about the ingredients going into these products. They are going on your baby’s delicate skin and small amounts will be absorbed systemically.

The hand sanitizer is an alcohol gel with cool little moisture beads. It has a nice scent for a hand sanitizer. I also tried the stretch marks masque on my hips. You apply the masque, sprinkle a bit of water which causes it to warm up, then leave it on for several minutes. You’re supposed to follow up with their creams, but I only received a sample of the masque so I can’t adequately test it over time to say if it works or not. It is light blue colored, which made me feel slightly like a Smurf.

The products are a bit pricy, but that is typical of smaller companies who use natural ingredients. Their gift baskets are perfect for a baby shower gift when you don’t have time to go buy everything and put it all together.

Natural products for the skin care is more high effective. There are products also that said it is natural but not effective. Others also, it contain chemical that can damage our skin. So it is more effective to review the ingredients of every product before buying it.

I love natural products, and so does my daughter. I will tell her about this for her baby.
