Sunday – planned to run but it rained most of the day and my treadmill is still in parts on the floor. Did P90X CardioX DVD (42 minutes) and 20 minutes (5 miles) on the cardio bike
Monday – walked up and down 12 flights of stairs on break at work
Tuesday – walked up and down 9 flights of stairs at work; 30 Day Shred DVD
And then it was all downhill from there…I was in a car accident on my way home from work Wednesday morning. After working 12.5 hours overnight then grocery shopping, a car full of teenagers on their way to school turned from oncoming traffic right in front of me as I was going through my green light. It was clear that the driver didn’t see me coming within inches of their car at all since she just rolled right on out and never swerved or reacted at all – I slammed on my brakes but they were already right in my car’s path, so I hit their rear tire and it pretty much left my entire front bumper hanging on by a thread. Now most of this road is a rural highway where the speed limit is 65 mph, but luckily this happened in front of the school so I was coming out of a 35 mph school zone before it increased back to speed.
No airbags deployed and everyone was fine…it’s just a pain dealing with a rental car, insurance companies, body shop etc. Luckily it wasn’t my fault so I shouldn’t have to pay anything but it’s still a huge inconvenience, plus I feel like cars never come back quite the same after getting replaced with refurbished parts at a body shop. The preliminary estimate is about $2500 in damages to my car, all because the teenage driver “thought I was in the turn lane”. I’m sure it’s great for my insurance that this happens within months of our other car being hit by a deer running across the highway. Oh well, I’m grateful no one was hurt.
So after finally getting to come home and go to bed around noon, that day was a bust for working out.
Thursday – got all dressed, phone on and music playing to go running, stepped outside and it’s raining. I could have done a video or anything else inside but just ended up being lazy.
Friday – Did the P90x KenpoX video (kind of like kickboxing) and Ab Ripper X (16 minutes of abs hell). I’ve been craving a good workout and no more excuses today!
Long story short, my 5k race is tomorrow and I haven’t ran at all this week! On the bright side, my husband says my muscles will be “well rested”. I’ll just aim to have fun and do my best.
