Tax Season Survival Kit Giveaway: $25 Walmart Gift Card & Waterproof Fire-Safe File

Home Sweet Home Giveaway Event: Home Decor, Appliances, Art & More

It’s time to get those W2′s together and file your income taxes – that April deadline will be here before you know it! Most people do not look forward to crunching all those numbers, dealing with the IRS, and rummaging through a year’s worth of tattered receipts, but it’s a necessary annual chore for most of us.

I’ve teamed up with Sentry Safe, a world leader in fire-resistant security storage, to offer some tax time survival tips and provide a fun giveaway to help you with your taxes. One lucky reader will win a $25 WalMart gift card and your own waterproof fire-resistant file safe!

SentrySafe Tax Season Survival Kit Giveaway: HD4100 Fire-Safe & $25 WalMart Gift Card

The ability to protect your important legal/financial documents, treasured family photos, passports, and more in case of flooding or fire is very important! Here are some features of the SentrySafe HD4100 Fire Safe:

ETL Verified 1/2-hour fire protection for CDs, DVDs, USB drives and memory sticks up to 1550°F
Key lock for privacy
Privacy Key Lock
UL Classified 1/2-hour proven fire protection
Waterproof Seal-ETL Verified
In-lid holder for easy access to CDs, DVDs, passports, and other frequently retrieved items
Color: Silver Gray
Exterior Dimensions: 14.3″x15.5″x13.5″ and 0.65 Cubic Ft. capacity

I also received my own WalMart gift card to put together a tax season survival kit. I like to save money by filing my own taxes, so I purchased this year’s edition of TurboTax, tax preparation software that will walk you through it step by step. Secondly, I bought some new hanging file folders which will be perfect since my new Sentry Safe holds up to 40 file folders. I also gathered some items I already had which will be useful – a calculator, pens, all of the necessary W2′s, interest statements, etc. and some organic fair trade chocolate to power me through it.

I find it helpful to make you have gathered all your necessary documents before getting started. I also keep a file folder system and have a folder for health care receipts, receipts for large purchases, previous years’ tax info, etc. By filing stuff appropriately and staying organized throughout the year, it makes it a lot easier to find what I need when it’s time to do taxes.

If you meet certain income requirements, you may possibly qualify for free tax preparation so check out IRS.gov to see if you qualify and choose from a number of free tax preparation software downloads.

Buy It: Check out the store locator. Includes major stores such as Costco, Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, and more.

Win It: Enter my sweepstakes giveaway below for a chance to win your own SentrySafe HD 4100 Fire-Safe and $25 WalMart Gift Card! Open to US.

The biggest reason I’d love this safe is to store photo discs in. After scanning hundreds if not thousands of pictures last year for a Graduation project, I know how precious ALL pictures are! I have virtually thousands more to go so need a safe probably for just pictures. My brother lost all of theirs in a tornado years ago, so I know the pain of losing keepsakes like this.
