I’ve been hard at work reorganizing bits and pieces of my blog, and today I’ve been focusing on my sidebar on the right. If you’re a blogger, it’s easy to let your blog space get cluttered and overly busy with badges, links, buttons, advertising etc. so I tidied things up a bit.
I wanted to draw your attention to the new Giveaway Countdown Widget. This replaces the boring list of text links where I used to list my giveaways, and now each giveaway has a thumbnail photo preview and tells you how many days are left to enter.
What do you guys think of the new format?
If you’re a giveaway blogger and are interested in adding this to your own blog, it’s a premium WordPress plug-in created by a giveaway blogger’s husband specifically for giveaway bloggers. It costs $15 and is available as a download at the site linked above.
This is a little embarrassing, but I actually downloaded this back in October (!) and because the directions were a little complicated and I was so busy at the time, I put off adding this. I sat down with it today and it’s not too bad. You will need to create a separate category label for active giveaways you want listed in the widget, and you must add some custom fields to your giveaway posts and always designate a thumbnail for it to pull a picture (I easily learned how to do this using google). It probably took me about 30 minutes to activate and format my existing giveaways to show up correctly.
