Last month I shared an article on time management tips for blogging to help you blog more efficiently and effectively. I mentioned my daily blogging to-do list, a routine I use to make sure I give priority to the most important tasks and don’t get derailed while working online.
Today I’m sharing my list for maintaining my product review/giveaway blog. Obviously everyone’s priorities and to-do list will be different, but this can give you an idea and I’d like to point out a few things which I feel some bloggers aren’t fully utilizing.
1. Check email.
This can be a huge source of distraction too, so I only respond to the most urgent messages and reply to comments on my blog, since those can be done quickly and keep the conversation going. Once my other more time-sensitive tasks are done, then I’ll respond to the rest.
2. Manage my triberr stream.
This is the lineup of tweets that are scheduled to be tweeted from my account on behalf of other bloggers. I have it set to automatic, but I like to check in the morning and delete any posts that are now expired or irrelevant. If you aren’t using triberr yet, check out my introduction to triberr and how it can increase traffic to your blog.
3. List my giveaways on daily linky’s at other blogs.
I like to do this early on so my giveaways are higher on the lists. This is an easy way to promote your giveaways, and the linky’s on the more popular blogs are some of my biggest sources of regular traffic. I’ve organized an up to date linky list organized by day of the week for your convenience. You can also promote your giveaways at my Friday Finds Giveaway Linky every Friday.
4. Give Klout to other bloggers.
Klout is a website that grades bloggers with a Klout score – a measurement of your online presence and reach. Even if you haven’t actively signed up for Klout, if you’re on twitter, you are already listed on Klout. If you think someone is influential in a certain category (e.g. blogging, reviews, cloth diapering, movies), you can give them Klout to raise their score. For example, if you think this article is helpful, you could give me Klout in blogging. PR firms and marketers are taking note of Klout scores, so you should too. It only takes a minute to give someone Klout, so this is a good deed I do when I have time.
5. Earn Swagbucks
You can earn Swagbucks daily by doing things like an internet search or answering a one question daily poll. I’m saving up my Swagbucks to trade in for Amazon gift cards. I try to do this daily to increase my earnings.
6. Link to my recent blog posts on my Facebook page.
There are syndication services you can use that do this automatically, but Facebook gives lower priority to links that are posted automatically (such as by Networked Blogs). I just go in and post them manually, and then I can use that time to respond to any comments and interact with my Facebook fans.
So that’s my daily routine when I have time! Certainly there are many days where I don’t get to this at all, but I find by sticking to a routine I don’t neglect any one area and it’s easier to be consistent.
What’s your routine? Is there anything you think I should add to mine?
